A project of passion and one that portrays the style of architecture that I am a firm believer in… timeless classic spaces, practical, easy to furnish and not an inch of wasted space.

The design appears so simple, the grand tour is short, but every room has something special, whether it be the Lawson Cypress board and batten with Shou Sugi Ban finish, exposed structural trusses or New York styled recycled brick walls. The house is unique, bold and materials have all been well tested to ensure longevity.

The house has been designed in two stages and stage one is near completion. The 170m2 house has two bedrooms both with walk in wardrobes, two bathrooms, large open plan kitchen and entertainment space opening up on both the northern and southern façade to create effortless indoor / outdoor flow. The 35-degree gable roof runs east to west making the most of the northern sun and stunning rural views to the south. In the future, we plan to construct a second wing with internal garage, media room, two double bedrooms and additional bathroom. The two stages will be connected via a glass enclosed boardwalk that will then form the front door.

When it comes to landscape design, I will admit this has been my most challenging project. The simplicity of the architecture results in few design lines or building constraints, which I find often help guide me through the landscape design process and provokes intimate spaces. The other challenge being… ‘I want it all’ too many ideas and not enough money to make it all happen in an instant!

The landscape plan has been designed with both stage one and two of the build in mind. Our intention is to chip away at the landscape while living onsite, starting with the patios, decks and front entrance gardens. Prior to building the house, we planted the boundary revegetation areas and shelter belts to improve privacy as soon as possible and planted avocado trees as they take time fruit. Our next stage is to finish planting the orchard to ensure we have seasonal fruit sooner rather than later.

I will continue to add pictures of the build to this web page and social media sites… Hopefully my build gives you some inspiration and portrays my individual design style.
